The School
Lafour Dance & Theatre Schools was established in 2000. In July 2005 Lafour Dance & Theatre Schools
became Lafour Theatre Schools (LTS) and is now owned and managed by Mandy
Fouracre.
LTS is an independent organisation and therefore not restricted to a corporate formula. This allows for greater freedom in structuring the timetable to suit the creative talents of students and their teachers.
Performance - the key element
LTS students work towards a Variety show at the end of every summer term to which parents, friends and relatives are invited. This is not just a work in progress but a performance on stage with stage lighting so that every student can enjoy participating in a 'theatre' experience.
Ethos
LTS aims to provide a nurturing environment in which every student acquires a foundation training in the performing arts and gains confidence through performance. Whether it's being asked to read aloud in school assembly, audition for a feature film or give a presentation to a group of work colleagues - the performance skills learned at LTS will enable students to approach such tasks with confidence.
Mandy Fouracre
I graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance (London)
in 1973. Travelling abroad as a result of my husband's work has meant frequently
adapting to new environments and different cultures. In 1994 I founded
The Mandy Fouracre Dance Academy (MFDA) in Accra, Ghana.
On return from Ghana in 1998, I was joint founder and co-director of Lafour Dance & Theatre Schools which established Dance Academies within Health & Fitness Clubs in the UK. Since August 2005 I have become sole director of Lafour Theatre Schools and Lafour Prima Dance. Although my original training was in dance I have found that working in drama has been a welcome diversion from the constraints of teaching a technical dance syllabus. Learning to think and work with the imagination is highly enjoyable. I believe that each performing art informs the other and embracing all three (ie drama, dance and singing) provides a well rounded introduction to the performing arts for young people.
