Arts Award Centre
The Arts Award, a new scheme, is a national qualification which supports
young people in their development as artists and arts leaders. It is run
through a partnership between the Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall.
Lafour Theatre school is registered as an Arts Awards Centre and has trained
advisers.
There are three levels.
Level 1 - Bronze Award – equivalent
to GCSE D-G
Level 2 - Silver Award – equivalent to GCSE A* - C
Level
3 - Gold Award – equivalent to A level
Minimum age for Level 1 entry is 11 yrs.
The trained advisers at Lafour Theatre schools will
liaise and guide individual students in preparation for the award. On completion
of all tasks an external moderator will visit the centre to validate the
adviser’s
assessment of student projects. There is no exam.
Lafour theatre schools current learning structure already complies with the criteria on which the awards are based. Arts Awards will be introduced in conjunction with Showcase and will provide an additional accreditation and sense of personal achievement.
The Arts Award will also provide an opportunity to work creatively in other arts activities. This could be designing a programme, writing a poem or short play, costume design, backstage help, lighting, sound, playing a musical instrument, front of house management.
When applying for a job, college or university it is often the additional non academic interests and achievements of an individual on a CV which better reflect the applicants accomplishments & personality. The Arts Awards will definitely provide a positive contribution and is an exciting initiative.
